Welcome to the official site of the Fox Valley Career Center Fire Science program (aka FVCC Fire Science program). The FVCC Fire Science program teaches high school individuals the essential skills to prepare them for a career in the fire service with Instructor led hands on practical evolutions and classroom lectures while instilling a sense of Duty, Pride, Tradition! The program enrolls students from the following school districts: Geneva, Batavia, Mooseheart, St. Charles East, St Charles North, Kaneland, Burlington Central & our most recent addition, West Aurora! Additionally, several of the past students have been hired on a firefighters in near by fire departments. Many of these students have mentioned that without this class they may not have had the essential prior knowledge to get them there... which backs our motto "Success Starts Here"
The FVCC Fire Science program started it's first year in 2006 led by instructor Gary Baum, who is also the Assistant Chief of Sugar Grove Fire Protection District. The first year enrollment began with a class of about 25, which peeked further interest. With the 2006 school year being a success, the course enrollment has now grown to over 60 students as of 2009. If you're in one of the schools districts we offer this unique opportunity to, inquire about enrolling!
This site is still under construction and there will be many more additions to come. In the mean time please take a look around! Thank you for your patience, FVCC Fire Science II student Bryan Mabry & Instructor Rob Cannon.
